Gameplay: The Controls

Object Of The Game
Score as many points as possible and achieve the highest smuggling reputation.
How To Score Points
Ultimately you want to blast as much stuff as possible. Every hit point of damage you do gives you points and destroying things gives you an extra bonus. Also finishing a run with contraband gives you high bonuses. DeZoods do not directly equate to points but you need them to modify your ship or buy a better one. Also there are several special items that you can purchase in Smuggler’s Dens that give you temporary boosts. The better your ship is the more you will be able to score points.
Pickups

Chests: Chests come in three sizes. The bigger the chest the more deZoods inside.

Contraband Chests: These are the chests that contain the contraband that you are smuggling. They take up cargo space but they are the most valuable pickups and they also give bonus points once they are delivered.

Crystals: Crystals are the next most valuable items after contraband. They can be tricky to catch though.

Navigating The Spaceport

Start With Owned Ships and Ships For Sale
The two buttons to navigate first are Owned Ships and Buttons For Sale. When Owned Ships is green the right and left arrows above the ship scroll through all the ships you own. Also when you are in owned ships you can modify or activate the current ships with the plus and minus buttons. Also above the ship image you can sell any ship you own as long as you have more than one.
While Ships For Sale is active (green) you can look at all the ships for sale by scrolling through them with the arrow keys. Only ships you can afford will have an active button to purchase. The Modification panel on the left is disabled when in Ships For Sale.
